| April 2007 Newsletter Dear Associates, Well last Tuesday was our last Associates General Meeting of the 2006-2007 year. This last year has gone very quickly for me and I imagine that it has for you too. We seem to have so much to do all the time that time just flies by. There are some dates that you need to mark on your calendar now so that you don’t miss them: May 12, 2007 - Partnership Dinner May 31, 2007 - Deadline for Associate Scholarship Nominations Mid August, 2007 - Fall Bulb Sale (plan for the beauty of next spring) September 29, 2007 - Fall Festival (rain date, September 30, 2007)
In case you haven’t heard, the Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show was a huge success!!! Under the great leadership of Norma Morris , this year’s profit was $5,053.50. Isn’t that wonderful? Make sure and thank Norma for all her hard work and great results. In case you are wondering, as of March 31, 2007, the Associates have given $25,000 to Rochester College for the following items: $10,000 Scholarships $15,000 Athletic Facility
With the Spring Fashion Show proceeds and the anticipated Scrip receipts we should have another $10,000 and should be able to meet our commitment to the Library. We only have one month left in the year and so far it doesn’t look like we will be able to make the following budgeted items unless we all dig deep: $10,000 Title III Endowment Match 2,500 Music Department (Chorus Travel) 2,500 Student Services Speakers Program 2,500 Honor's Symposium
This would be a great month to have a “Write-A-Check” fundraiser. There is no work, almost no planning (just remember to write the check) and the Associates will be able to provide the college with the above items. This organization was founded to provide financial support to the college and we need to dig deep as our founders envisioned almost 50 years ago. Write that check as part of your chapter or write that check privately and send it in to our treasurer. God will bless you either way and there will be untold blessings to the Rochester College students and faculty. I am sad to report that one of our lifetime members, Mary Trenary, died in her sleep last Saturday morning, April 14, 2007, at age 91. She was a member of the Parkside Chapter. Our sympathy and prayers go out to her family. Remember to pray for the Associates and Rochester College as they work to share Christ with the world. Your sister in service, Linda Jones President
Rochester College Back to Top
After a long winter and a short burst of spring several weeks ago, spring seems to finally have arrived! Of course, living in Michigan, we know never to be too sure of weather. The campus is coming alive with spring tulips, daffodils, and other bulb plans thanks to the Associates over the last several years. The hillside steps by the lake have over 1,000 daffodil bulbs that provide a beautiful path for all to enjoy. Spring also means that Rochester College is moving closer to graduation and Partnership Dinner. As you know, the summer months create a slow down in cash because of the lack of tuition dollars so it is important we have a great Partnership Dinner! If you cannot attend, please consider sponsoring several student tickets so that we can allow students to be a part of this exciting event. Thank you for all you do in the summer to raise funds for Rochester College. Please pray for our students who will serve in mission areas this summer and pray for those students considering enrolling in Rochester College this fall. May God bless your summer! Blessings, Michael W. Westerfield, Ph.D. President

Scrip Back to Top ATTENTION GARDENERS! We have an exciting new opportunity to raise money for RC this year. We have an agreement with Bordine Nursery where we can buy their gift cards for 15% off!!! They are $20 cards, are good for one year, and can be used for any Bordine merchandise. Some of their merchandise is a little more expensive than other nurseries, but their quality is excellent. If everyone would use Bordine’s for just half of their gardening needs this year, it would make a big difference in what we can give to RC. Contact Lynne Stewart, Norma Morris, or me to obtain the cards. MEIJER All of you who have been using the Meijer Community Rewards program are aware of the changes in this program. You have to re-enroll in this plan using your current account number and the Associates ID number of 918175. Briefly, we will earn 1% of every purchase (vs. having to purchase a minimum in the past before we could earn any money.) The 1% only applies to purchases using a Meijer credit card. If you pay with cash or any debit card, we will earn 0.5%. If you use any other credit card, we will earn nothing. REMEMBER You can view or print the current (updated daily) list of Scrip available at any time. If you have a computer or know someone who does, log onto www.glscrip.com and click on “Retailer List.” You can list it alphabetically, by category (Apparel & Accessories, Department Stores, Dining, etc.) or detailed, which shows the rules for each retailer. Note: Farmer Jack and Bordine’s will not appear on these lists – we have separate agreements with them I have been keeping track of my SCRIP sales to employees since the first of the year. In the first quarter of 2007 (January, February, and March), college employees purchased $8643 in SCRIP Gift Cards. Their purchases contributed approximately $562 to the SCRIP profit for this year. Let’s all join them. If you currently do not have a SCRIP coordinator in your chapter, please contact Ann Luchsinger for information on establishing one! If you do not have a chapter, please contact Ann Luchsinger or Lynne Stewart to purchase SCRIP. Remember - SCRIP isn’t just to give away – you can use it every day! - Ann Luchsinger

Through your support of the 41st ARC Luncheon and Fashion Show, the event was a huge success! It was a beautiful and perfect Spring day, lots of fun and laughter, a time for renewing friendships, good food, and we were able to raise $5,003.50 for Rochester College.
